The Tools Of The Burlesque Trade ? Vero Beach Tattoo. Deuces ...

Every occupation has a list of items that are required in order for the job to be done properly. That could be everything from a decent pen for a waiter to take an order, all the way up to a full set of handyman tools for someone in construction. While performing in a burlesque troupe may not be considered a traditional job by many, the performer still needs a very definite set of accessories in order to get the attention of her adoring fans, even if the vast majority of those items are going to end up scattered around her stiletto heels.

Burlesque is a live performance art for that has been around a very long time and that actually seems to be enjoying something of a renaissance at the moment. The shows feature girls of all shapes and sizes, all of them beautiful in their own way, performing little vignettes that are both comedic and titillating. One visit to a burlesque show and it?s easy to understand the appeal, and if you pay really close attention you will see that the amount of effort that the ladies put into their appearance goes way beyond the few minutes that they are onstage for each individual piece.

To get a true idea of what?s involved; let?s take a look at the burlesque accessories that go into making up the beautiful finished article that ends up on stage. Wigs are commonly used, as well as fascinators that provide a colorful touch to the hair. Burlesque performers often sport a pin-up girl style, so it?s just easier to use wigs than to try and change hairstyles for each act. Fake eyelashes are also incredibly popular, as are unique, statement pieces of jewelry for the ears and neck.

Perhaps the most decorative piece, and the one that most men line up to see, are the tassels and pasties that cover up the, how shall I put it delicately, more colorful part of the breasts. They can be anything from a simple little cover up to a bright colored tassel that will sway with the girl?s movements, usually hypnotizing the entire front row in the process.

Satin gloves and fishnet stocking are also common burlesque accessories, but the centerpiece is without a doubt the main outfit. While modern burlesque acts will often use regular clothing in their little scenes, the more traditional troupes tend to opt for brightly colored dresses and corsets that are a throwback to the earliest days of the art. To finish it all off, the final splashes of color are applied using make-up and a killer pair of heels that tend to serve as the exclamation point to the entire costume.

Burlesque is a legitimate art form that deserves pride of place among all the other forms of live entertainment. The next time that you attend a show, spare a thought for those beautiful girls who spend so much time making themselves look like the women of our dreams.
